The patch adds a way to disable the use of the WINE32 dll through use of a registry key.
Today, coder Miguel de Icaza added a patch to attempt to address the 64-bit compatibility issues. Other applications will often "not work" but sometimes may work, depending on how good the application is. Many applications are not yet 64-bit compliant and if they use the WINE32 dll, WINE will cause a crash. WINE is now 64-bit compliant, but there are some compatibility issues. The new release of the WINE project also supports an upgrade from WINE 1.6.1 to 1.6.2.
Since they are both 32-bit DLLs and 32-bit software, they seem to be incompatible with 64-bit systems.
